Great but lots of room for upgrades!

December 12, 2024The outdoor lights 2 look amazing, very bright. Every led is customizable. There is 1 mounting clip for each led in the box of the "outdoor lights 2", the first generation i heard used to only provide 1 clip for every 4th led, they still might, not sure, might be fixed now..
They need to be connected in series for the walking light scenes to flow one way. The only way to have multiple lights synced together when selecting scenes is through Bluetooth connectivity only, just wifi is not adequate. So either you need to be in the center of your home to select scenes, or within 40ft of all your controllers outside. Google assistant will not control the lights together, only separately and basic color options. The Govee app is great to use after you get the jist of it.
The "outdoor lights 2" 150ft comes with 2 long (16.4ft) and 2 short (5ft?) extensions, which can all be used simultaneously with the 150ft strand, that is the max unless you go with the pro lights @ 200ft.
It would be nice to be able to create your own unique scenes down the road, more than what it is now. The customizing can definitely be expanded.
Do yourself a favor, make sure the lights are tested before install, count your clips to leds. Use the adhesive backing AND the clips with 2 screws. Buy yourself #6 x 5/8" white head screws for a #1 red robbie bit,
chuck away the phillips head mini screws that come with them, unless you have a magnetic bit that holds the provided screws nicely for a one handed operation, saves the hassle when 20ft up a ladder in sub par conditions!

December 25, 2024It takes some good preplanning to make sure that the final installation looks professional and balanced for the building and not a slap dash job.
First- measure the distances carefully, Identify any unique points like a peaked roofline and the connection point to the power and controller module.
Second- calculate the spacing of 16.5" inches (42cm) bewteen every LED in the 12 section strings. Third- After calculating the number of LEDS between the power connection and the Roof peak shift the required number of LEDS over so that the LEDS are evenly spaced from the roof peak. Then start attaching via the adhesive strips back toward the power connection. If done correctly you will end up at the optimal point for the power connection. Then continue from the other side of the peak by installing the next string away from the power end. I found 3 inches was a good distance away from the wall and a nice nighttime lighting effect.
I feel this will save me years of taking Christmas lights up and down needlessly.
Another benefit is that squirrels won't mistake these lights as pine cones and destroy the C9 led lights thinking they are a food source!

November 17, 2024We installed these lights due to having high peaks on our house. The very reason we installed them is why they’re not functionable at this rate. Those high peaks involve more than the included 10 feet of extension cord ( You’re very specialized three pin extension cords that is practically unavailable from a third-party.) We attempted to rectify the situation by sharing this with customer service. They were able to rectify one of our problems.( non working set ) But they do not sell the extension cords and are sold out of them anyways. If we buy another box, we would get another 10 feet however, we do not need those lights. We neeed extension. That’s extremely expensive and also we still need more to reach our highest peaks. We’ve ordered from three different third-party companies and so far none of them have been successful. I’ve spent near $800 trying to make these lights work. We put them up three weeks ago and the kids have yet to see it because of the lack of extension cord. We’re at a spot right now. We don’t know what to do, we have fancy stickers attached to our roof that don’t work. A quick Internet search tell me I’m not alone here. We’ve ordered from a light company and Ontario near 30 feet of extension cords and I’m hopeful. Those will work when they finally get in. Who knows. I’m not sure what to do with the situation if they don’t work. @govee_supervisor please recifty the situation

March 15, 2024Calling the 16’ light string an “extension” is false advertising! While you can only use it with the 50’ and 100’ sets, according to their CS, you can’t add them to the sets to extend them another 16’. According to CS when I tried to add it to a 100’ set and had problems (that ended up not being related to the additional string), it’s not an extension, as they claim the 100’ power supply will only work up to 100’ and not more, therefore, there’s no such thing as an “extension.” It’s a replacement string, not an extension and its description should be reworded. Either that, or CS needs to stop claiming it won’t work to extend beyond the length of the 50’ and 100’ sets, because it actually does. Pros who install the lights for others confirmed that the power supplies for the 50’, 100’ and 150’ sets are the same.
That being said, thankfully, their CS is wrong. After replacing a bad string, I now have 116’ working on a 100’ power supply and controller with no data issues. I’m also using a 4’ pro jump cable without issue, which they also said couldn’t be done, when others told me it can. The only good thing CS did was to refund me for both my orders, without asking for me to return anything. Whether that is because they know they’re misrepresenting their product on their site, I don’t know, but they were very quick to offer a refund, which makes me suspicious. I love the lights, the app is so-so and not intuitive. If it weren’t for a Facebook group I’m in, I wouldn’t know I could use other people’s DIYs.
